Other Places: Neither Here nor Now

Artist Reception: Saturday, July 20, 5–7pm during Upstate Art Weekend.

Landscape images historically gesture toward the here and now, what my eyes can see at this moment. Yet when transformed into art, and moved into a gallery or museum the available references are necessarily  toward vistas anticipated or remembered. These six artists all show images that include comforting clouds, plants or horizon lines. Each conjures memories and/or future dreams even as they are Installed in a galley space with crazily luscious nature seen through massive, antique glass windows including a wildly gorgeous historic tree perfectly framed in the 1812 building’ window. We are thereby called to be re-enchanted by the wonders of nature based artifice.
